Pet Sitting Service Policy Sheet
Visits to the booked pet owners’ home will occur in increments of 20, 30, or 60 minutes in length based on booking confirmation. The pet sitter agrees upon visit confirmation to the scheduled visit day, time, and duration. It is expected the pet sitter ensures the visit is completed timely and starts the visit on time (within 30 mins of the booked timeframe, unless alternate flexibility is agreed in writing with the pet owner). It is expected the pet sitter completes the full allocated time agreed for the visit.
These visits will include walks, exercise, feeding (if requested), water bowl refills as needed for the pet. The pet sitter will follow instructions of the pet owner for walking, feeding and pet medication. The pet sitter should provide an environment of love and affection towards the animal and at no time should any physical violence be used to scold the animal.
-
The pet sitter agrees for a 12-hour booked service to arrive between 6 and 8pm (unless alternate time agreed by pet owner) and upon arrival stays for 12-hours completing any pet instructions during that time (feeding, walking, water refill, medication). The pet sitter may leave the home during this duration for 2 hours max at a time to attend personal errands or other dog walks. The pet sitter agrees for a 24-hour booked service to start the service at the time agreed by the pet sitter and pet owner in writing and complete a full 24-hour period. The pet sitter can leave for a maximum of 4-hour time periods at a time to attend to personal errands and other dog walks. The pet sitter should take great care to leave the home in the manner it was found (taking trash out, cleaning up any messes made, making the bed, ensuring a clean bathroom/kitchen). For these visits the pet sitter should be given by the pet owner a room with a bed (sheets/towels) and an appropriate bathroom to utilize.
-
A one-way visit will not go over 10 miles. The pet sitter agrees to pick up the pet and provide transportation in a safe manner (crate or harness/leash) to the designated location (stated in writing by the pet owner). Upon drop off, the pet sitter should provide confirmation of safe arrival via text to the pet owner including a photo.
-
The pet sitter agrees to provide 30-minute meet and greet for new clients (no reimbursement) in the client’s home to ensure comfort level for both the pet sitter and pet owner. If the pet sitter should feel uncomfortable with the dog or home, they should notify XX so the visit can be declined or given to alternate sitter. This time should be used to obtain necessary care instructions, exit/entry instructions to the home, and become familiar with the pet. No pet sitter will be required to take on a visit where they feel there is a safety risk to themselves regarding the animal or home.
-
Attention should be given to the time of day, dog breed and temperature. Hot pavement should be avoided during mid-day hours with temperatures above 85 degrees. Consideration should be given based on pet parent instructions for reactive dogs (people and other dogs). If upon a visit the pet sitter should find themselves uncomfortable or unsafe (animal turns aggressive, unwanted guests in the home, etc.). They should immediately leave the premises and lock the home upon exit. They should immediately contact XXX line to inform XX of the situations and obtain further guidance.
-
The pet sitter should take great care to ensure proper leashing of the animal, careful to be aware of exits of the home to ensure pets do not get out of the home. Careful attention should be given to ensure all doors are locked and fully closed, including outdoor gates upon leaving the home. The pet sitter should communicate with the pet owner how they will enter and exit the home and take care of any confidential passcodes and keys for home entry. Keys should be kept in a storage location out of reach of other individuals and should be returned to the homeowner within 24-hours of the requested return.
-
The pet sitter should ensure proper pick up and discard of pet waste. If the pet should have an accident in the home the pet sitter should make a good faith effort to clean with products provided in the owner’s home.
-
Communication will be completed through the time for pet application. This will provide the pet owner with an update upon the visit starting and completion along with photos, written update on visit, and if the visit contains a walk (GPS tracking will be enabled). If there is any concern during the visit (pet not eating, pet illness, door issues, pet accidents) these should be communicated to the pet owner via text and if necessary, following the emergency steps below.
-
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the visit occur will not incur any charge. The pet owner should communicate in writing or text message of a visit cancellation to the pet sitter. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice of the visit will incur a charge of $10.00. This is up to discretion of the owners given any emergency circumstance.
-
In the event of a pet emergency during a pet service/visit, the pet sitter shall first take immediate action to obtain help for the pet, if needed including bringing to the pet owners emergency vet or the closest emergency vet, if required. The pet sitter shall contact the pet owner and/or the pet owner’s emergency contact at the numbers provided within the Pet’s Individual Contract/exhibit forms. In addition, once the steps above have been taken, the pet sitter shall contact the emergency numbers to update the pet company owners to the situation and for further guidance. If the pet owner and/or the pet owner’s emergency contact cannot be reached in a timely manner, the pet sitter is authorized to:
a. Transport the pet(s) to the listed veterinarian on the individual Pets Veterinary Release Form.
b. Request on-site treatment from a veterinarian.
c. Transport the pet(s) to an emergency clinic if the previous two options are not feasible.
